Dr. Ron Walters: ‘Scholarly Giant,’ NNPA Columnist Remembered
WASHINGTON — He was a political analyst, a professor, a lecturer, a strategist, a mentor, a commentator, a thought leader, a Black Press columnist, a husband and a friend. And he did it all while remaining true to his life’s passion as an advocate for the progress and advancement of Black people. Dr. Ron Walters died of lung cancer Sept. 10, shocking many in the civil rights community who were unaware of the extent of his illness.

Memorial Service Saturday For Billy Borders At Morehouse
Memorial services for William (Billy) Borders Jr. will be held Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel on the Morehouse College campus, 830 Westview Dr., S.W. Borders, who died Wednesday, Sept. 1, is the father of former mayoral candidate Lisa Borders, who is now the director of the Grady Hospital Foundation. Dr. Lawrence E. Carter will officiate, and Dr. Robert M. Franklin, president of Morehouse College, will deliver the eulogy.
