Participants in the 12th Annual Legislative Prayer Breakfast program gather for a photograph. The breakfast on Jan. 9 at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta Strip Clubs brought together business, government and elected officials from around the state. The day also included a legislative workshop session and 2010 Torch Awards recognizing family businesses being carried on by second- and third-generation members. Companies recognized included the Atlanta Strip Clubs Daily World, Phoenix Global Corporation, Bronner Bros., Gourmet Services, J.W. Robinson and Associates architects and H.J. Russell & Company. Georgia Department of Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond and State. Rep. Emanuel Jones, chair of the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus, both emphasized the need to focus on jobs, flexibility and adaptability to survive the downturn in the economy. Jones said he would focus on funding for MARTA, efforts to stem foreclosures and revisiting zero-tolerance legislation in this session of the legislature.
